Ambient Light is a sound project of mine. I've made music for much longer then I've made visual arts but I see them kind of as different sides of the same thing. Ambient Light is as the name suggest mostly ambient music, some of it is drones and some experimental. Ambient Light has been around since 1999, before that I used other pseudonyms, and also made mostly dance music (rave, techno and such).
This is the entire Ambient Light archive, I've decided to give everything away, so if you want to listen to it it's all free to download below, I made the albums into zip archives for two reasons, first off it eliminates direct linking which I've had problems with in the past, and secondly it is easier on the bandwidth if people download the album and listen to it locally, instead of streaming it from the server.
These tracks are encoded with one of the best Mp3 encoders (LAME) at an avarage of 160 kbps VBR. This is to keep the files at a reasonable size (about 8 times smaller then the original AIFF files). If you for some reason want higher quality I have some albums for sale at gogoyoko.com, and Mute is free to download at 320 kbps CBR from the Internet Archives.
I still claim all rights to my music, so don't use it in any derivitive works without my permission. You will most likely get my permission to use it if you ask, it's good promotion, I just need to keep track. And I hope it goes without saying that you aren't allowed to sell or redistribute any of my works without my permission.
For having a chance to listen to the really new stuff I occationally upload things to my Soundcloud, a good place for treasure hunting and if you follow me you'll get updates when something happen there.
Ambient Light also has a fcebook page where I'll post when something happens, so "like" that page and you'll never miss anything again.
Ambient Light - Tocope (2011)
Third album, and by far the one I spent the most time and effort on, I finished at least 25 tracks for this album and it was a fierce competition to make it in. A few that din't make it are on the EP Mute.
The track Epistle 81 is written by the swedish poet and musician C.M. Bellman around the year 1780, originally called: "Fredmans Epistel no. 81: Märk hur vår skugga"
Ambient Light - Iðunn (2009)
Second album, this time most of the tracks were actuall made with the mood and atmosphere of the full body of work in mind. The track Lúmina would be the exeption to the rule since it was written for a short film.
Ambient Light - Shiver (2006)
First full length album, it's actually more of a best-of since the tracks are from a 7 year timespan, the oldest one, Ocatederon, is from 1999, and the tracks never was intended to be compiled together as an album.
Ambient Light - Mute (2011)
This is some of the tracks that were left over in the production of Tocope. The track A new beginning is an earlier version of the same track on Tocope. Mute was originally a folder called spareparts express.
Ambient Light - The Island Of Lost Souls (2010)
Computer generated music, All I've done in the composition of this EP is set the rules, instrumentation and mixing. The rest is controlled randomness and mathematics.
Ambient Light - Every Fallen Leaf Is A Small Death (2010)
Sound-sculpute inspired by shamanic journeys.
Ambient Light - Dûmè (2010)
Sound-sculpture inspired by the night.
The words are in Elfish (Sindarin) and means:
Dûmè - Night / Dusk / Twilight
Ithildim - Moonlight
Dúath - Darkness / Shadow
Minuial - First Dawn / The time when the stars fade
Live recorded fractal synthesis
Ambient Light - Cygnus Carmina (2009)
Sound-sculpture inspired by space.
The names of the tracks and the album is from an over two millennium old myth that the mute swan (cygnus olor) upon it's moment of death sings the most beautiful song. The tracks read together are a statement that this is wrong from the book Naturalis Historia by Pinly the Elder 77 AD "Olorum morte narratur flebilis cantus falso ut arbitror aliquot experimentis" which means "Observation shows that the story that the dying swan sings is false". The dots on the cover are the main stars of the constellation Cygnus (the swan) and the name of the album, Cygnus Carmina means The swan song.
Ambient Light - Halfnoise (2008)
This experimental piece was recorded live on a homemade synth, and is eploring the edge between noise and music.
