The Primitive Land

The Primitive Land

This is my final project for the university, the project I have been working on for the last 5 months (more or less). It has bee a bumpy ride though, I always knew sort of what I wanted to do but only at the last month everything fell together.

The idea is to photograph the primtive land, nature as nature should look. Where I come from we have a lot of wild landscapes, and these years I have lived in England there is nothing I have missed as much as the nature. I mean we have parks and gardens, but almost all of it is made by humans and molded to a form that are "user friendly". My photos are nature looking like nature should look if humans had not been messing with it.
It's four photos: The first one s from England, it's in a small patch of actual forest at one of the edges of Mote Park, here in Maidstone. The second photo is from Finland, it's shot at dawn in Pedersöre, quite close to where I live. The third is from Abisko, northern Sweden and the last is from Bjørnfellet in northern norway. They are all shot as high dynamic range photos and worked over quite much in the postproduction, they are shot at different times of the year and in qute different light conditions. For example the English one s shot in spring while the others are shot in autumn, the one from Sweden are shot in cloudy weather, the rest is in the sunlight, still I think the series works as a series because it's the landscape, the wilderness that are connecting them together.

Theses photos printed as c-type prints, 24x16 inch will be on exhibition in the candid gallery, London, at the end of June. More info about that event can be found on the shows website. http://www.showmethelightshow.co.uk/
